Hi,
Now there is a new feature on Xthumbs allowing webmasters to extract thumbs from xvideohost resize them and post them on xclicks.

http://www.xthumbs.ws/xvh.php

At this time only last thumbs from xvideohost are supported

Hey x-team,

I can't believe I didn't come across xthumbs when it was launched. This is an amazing script; so simple but does exactly what it needs to do!

But I have a couple of questions (as for now I'm not using it's full potential I think):
- My thumbs are 300x200 pixels, but the limit is 250 px wide, is there a way to raise this limit? (If I have to run a script at my own server to achieve this, I wouldn't mind ).
- I noticed that the compression of the thumbs is pretty high (I see quite some pixellation in the images, is there a way to pick a quality/compression setting? (If this requires me to run something on my server I wouldn't mind, I'm not very technical, but you never know )
- Last question I have is if there is a possiblity to rescan the gallery for other random thumbs, because in some cases you get 4 thumbs for a gallery of which none really are suited (even though the best 'action' shot is available in the gallery). Perhaps more thumbs (but of course this drives up the server load) or some sort of reload/rescan button for that gallery so you can pick other thumbs?

Anyway, I assume you're quite busy and I don't mind making a donation (don't have a lot of cash, but I don't know what else to do in return that you would benefit from ) for your time and effort (maybe it's just adjusting a couple of parameters, but I would be so grateful if there is a way to make this work!)

Anyway, thanks for listening!

ps. Always been extremely satisfied with xclicks (in my opinion still the easiest and best TGP script around).

Best Regards,
blackshack

Hey X-team,

You may disregard my last message in reagrds to the maximal thumbs size and quality... I redesigned my site to to work with 200 wide thumbs Quality actually is acceptable as this means less strain on the server of course.

Only feature that would really be amazing is that when you get the results of the thumb generator, is to reload/retry a specific gallery of which the thumbs are not good enough (or if the gallery has failed to load for whatever reason).
Because when I go back, I lose all the other thumbs. And if I save the galleries, it's tricky to pick the gallery that failed (certainly when the names of the generated thumbs are random characters) and enter it again... A retry button for each gallery would be amazing....
If this would not be possible, maybe some sort of thickbox that you can select and once you click 'next' at the end, these gallery links get copied so these 'failed' can easily be pasted in the textbox and rescanned...

I'm just thinking out loud Maybe there's a very easy way to do this, maybe not... I'm just curious if this can be done?

Kind Regards,
blackshack

Hi,
A retry button, would require some ajax or ajax like technology. When I did that site I never had something like that in mind. I just combined 3 libraries I used in xclicks, xvideohost and other project. Later was added an xml parser library in order to read from xvideohost or other sites with xml files.
Xthumbs itself doesn't worth to spend too much time for it but with ajax being more common probably this may happen soon.
The other aproach would be to include in the zip file a report with galleries used/not used .. This should be easy and simple so I will look into.

Hey X-team,

thanks for your reply!
Even when it doesn't work, I've set up a system in excel so I can easily see which galleries still need to be redone.

But I really appreciate you looking into it
